How did you know he was your man?
Nneoma: I am not a friend keeping type, but when I meet my friend, I know. We have been friends and I think I saw what I like in a man in him.
What are the qualities you saw in him?
Nneoma: Chinedu is very intelligent and smart.
What was your parents reaction when you told them you are getting married to Aki?

Three Months After Marriage, Mercy Johnson Goes Blind..

Sultry actress Mercy Johnson is no doubt a woman that cannot be toyed with in the Nollywood when the names of who is who in the Nigerian movie industry or even in the world for that matter are mentioned.
This is based on the agility she applies to her craft to dish out what she knows how to do best, which has untimately made her a celebrity to reckon with, but that is not the story for today. The one now is very disheartening if not unpalatable.
Not too long ago, precisely August 28 2011,the actress was in the news, putting an end to a conflicting story which emanated at a scene on the he above mentioned date. But this time,it might definitely not be the best of time for the Kogi State born diva,Mercy Johnson as the news you are about to read may sound bizarre.
Undoubtedly,Mercy Johnson is one of the best actresses in Nigeria who has carved a nitche for herself before her much publicized marriage to Edo-born prince,Odi,which might not even confuse one whenever she is being link to several scandals.
According to the information,Mercy Johnson was said to have engaged in a combat on a movie location in Asaba Delta State, with a colleague whose name has not been revealed to us.The brawl,we gathered, made her to lose one of her eye balls in the ensuing brouhaha.
Information from other sources however claimed that ever since the unfortunate incident, newly wedded Mercy Johnson has found herself pitiable in the unbelievable situation,as her family members have been running helter-skelter to ensure a surgical operation for her in London,so that the eye can at least return to a manageable state as the damage done to the right eye is very gory.
On the heels of this,we placed repeated and anxious calls to Mercy to know the truth of the matter before going to press, but our efforts proved abortive as her phone kept ringing without response.
But before the temper of you lovers of Mercy begin to palpitate, let’s quickly tell you that the flick we are referring to was written by Micheal Jaja, continuity by Prince Apex, costuming by Chioma Okafor,props/set by David Aginwa(Ghana) make-up by Gabazzini, managed by Boniface Ogbonnaya, produced by Magic Movies, and finally directed by Micheal Jaja.
What a great combination of talented hands to give out such a great piece of work.

Terry G Denied Visa Into UK

According to sources, the inability of Terry G who has visited the United Kingdom once,to be granted a visa is not unconnected with the problems associated with the documents Terry G submitted at the embassy. He is said not to have been able to properly convince the High Commission visa issuing authority that he is just going to United Kingdom to perform at a show and come back without extending his stay or ultimately defecting.

Unfortunately,a popular showbiz promoter, who is believed to be taking Terry G to United Kingdom on the musical tour has already distributed flyers and publicized the show via different social network sites.

A lot of people, most especially Terry G’s fans have already had their hopes raised, only for them to be ultimately informed that their beloved artiste has been denied visa by the British High Commission.

Recall that Terry G was denied a British visa just about a year ago.

Jim Iyke Enrolls In Anger Management School

Quote
"I will not disrespect you by lying about the fact that I do get into one or two brushes with people here and there. I will not give any excuse that I have never been that kind of person. I am taking a Anger Management Session now, it was advised not only by my fiancĂ©e, but also by my agent. It is a very interesting session for my well being. One thing about our society is that we have not accepted celebrities with their whims and caprices. An actor is allowed to be eccentric. There is a thin line between the person you see on stage and the real actor. A lot of people do not understand that. I’m not perfect and I’m taking steps to deal with my imperfections"

Later, a celebrity blogger, Stella Dimoko Korkus (SDK), took Ini Edo to the cleaners on her Twitter page by saying she actually cheated to emerge the front runner. Ini EDO said: “I did not rig de votes or use any software to raise my votes,I came on tweeter and my fb page and asked my fans to vote 4 me.I heard some even went on air and announced.this allegation is a calculated attempt to smear my name for whtever reasons.to all my fans who voted, thank you.I appreciate all ur support and love,Godbless.happy thanksgiving day”.

Nigerian Artist, Orezi Arrested With Cocaine In Dubai

While popular comedian, Babatunde Omidina a.k.a Baba Suwe has been vindicated of drug trafficking allegation with 25 million naira damages claim against NDLEA and star actress, Stella Damsus has been telling who ever cares to listen that she was never drilled for any substance suspected to be hard drug, Orezi, one of the fastest rinsing singer, is not so lucky. Confirm Sure Boy, as he’s now fondly called, is been alleged to have been nabbed for drug in Dubai!

A reliable source hinted that Orezi, who stepped into the limelight with ‘I no Fit Lie’, his debut hit single track was arrested for carrying a huge substance believed to be cocaine at Dubai international airport!

We gathered that Orezi, whose song ‘Booty Bounce’ was rocked by the housemates at the last Big Brother Africa TV reality show, was in Dubai for an Event Organized by Team Syrup Music. The event according to the report is supposed to be held at Marina Yacht Club in Dubai last Thursday November 24, 2011.

How Orezi escaped NDLEA screening machine in Nigeria is now a mystery to be unravelled, ‘The Gen gen Master’ who also featured in popular  song titled ‘E Moti’, and DJ Jam Jam’s Jamilaya, was said to have been  arrested  and detained on Thursday.
Efforts to reach Cullbed Music, Orezi’s record label management, proved abortive as the phone of the CEO, who is simply Identified as Kolade was ringing but no reply. Anyway, we promise to update you as matter unfolds.

Can Social Media Startup Unthink Unseat FCan anti-Facebook marketing help new social networking site, Unthink, siphon off Facebook customers?

The social media market may seem pretty saturated, especially with the entrance of Google Plus into the already crowded field. Facebook, of course, is the king of the social media mountain, and there’s always a scrappy new contender itching to topple the king.
Unthink is betting its future on anti-Facebook sentiment. In fact, the new social media start-up is not only basing its entire marketing strategy on how very much it is not Facebook, but the very inspiration for the site was based on the idea that Facebook was mistreating its customers.
According to Sarah Perez, Unthink CEO Natasha Dedis got the idea for Unthink “when her son wanted to sign up for Facebook and she read the terms of service. They were not something she wanted to agree to because they could change at any time. But for her son, that decision was met with a lot of anxiety.”
So like any loving mother she started a social networking site that didn’t have such pernicious terms: Unthink, which gives people more ownership over their personal data and privacy, something that many Facebook users have been upset with. Unfortunately for consumers and Unthink alike, many other Facebook customers either don’t understand or don’t care about privacy issues.
Unthink is marketing their social experience as the anti-Facebook option (see video below). It has all energy of the Occupy Wall Street protests, replete with a manifesto heavy on the language of emancipation.
Part of this, of course, is simply Unthink tapping into the very same energy that made Facebook what it is in the first place: the cool factor. Facebook used to be exclusive. It was cool to be a part of it when it was only at Harvard, or only at a select group of schools, or only for college kids.
Now it’s for everybody and the cool factor has been replaced by the convenience factor. Since everyone you know is already on Facebook, it makes migrating to something like Google Plus or Unthink, well, a little unthinkable (bet you didn’t see that one coming.)
So the question is simply this: can the cool factor kill the convenience factor? Can the impulse to be part of something new and sort of exciting really incentivize enough people to abandon Facebook and migrate to Unthink?
I doubt it. It’s impossible to overstate just how important the convenience factor is here. For all-purpose social networking, Facebook has everything most users want and need, including family and friends already signed up who might be reluctant to move.

The future of social media is in niche networks. Maybe Unthink can tap into a specific demographic, but they won’t be anything more than a fly buzzing about the head of Mark Zuckerberg’s Goliath.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that! Facebook’s privacy settings are horrible, and the bigger it gets the less it cares about its customer base. Kudos to Unthink for taking a unique approach to marketing an alternative, however dubious I am of their success.

GLO GHANA TO RESERVE NUMBERS FOR NEW CUSTOMERS............

The Management of Glo Mobile Ghana Limited says ahead of its launch in Ghana, the company will shortly provide a facility to enable members of the public to reserve their preferred numbers on the 0233XXXXXX number series of the Glo Mobile Network.

A statement from Glo Ghana signed by Head of Public Relations, Ekow Quarcoo said “the reservations will be subject to availability and shall accordingly be conducted on a first-come-first-served basis.”

The statement said the facility would require members of the public to text their preferred numbers to a designated number.

It said in accordance with National Communications Authority (NCA) guidelines on Number Registration, no individual shall be permitted to reserve more than five (5) Glo Mobile numbers, and the numbers would only be activated upon successful registration after Glo has been launched.

The statement said to conclude a number reservation, customers would be required to bring along the number from which the reservation was made, as proof of identity, in order to redeem the SIM Card of their special number against applicable payment and services.

Glo Mobile is due to launch its services in Ghana on November 17, 2011, but sources say new customers can start making calls on Glo two days ahead of the launch, from November 15, 2011.

Glo derives much of its network strength from the massive backbone support it receives from Glo 1, the high capacity state-of-the-art submarine cable which berthed in Ghana in 2009 and was commissioned last April.

The Glo 1 fibre optic cable is the first individually owned submarine cable in Africa and the only such facility connecting West Africa to the United Kingdom.

Glo said its Glo 1 Cable would guarantee access to ultra-fast and reliable internet connectivity and would be the driving force for the business community, not only in Ghana, but also across West Africa.

“It will also provide the platform for robust applications such as video conferencing, telemedicine, distance learning and customized services like data centres and wireless virtual private network (VPN), and virtually all sectors of the Ghanaian economy will benefit immensely from the window of global opportunities which the Glo 1 and the Glo Mobile network has come to offer .

Glo has promised to launch its mobile services on an aggressive note and be very competitive.

Some telecom operators in Ghana have already started making changes in their strategy in anticipation of the competition Glo is expected to bring, but Glo Ghana Chief Operating Officer, George Andah has said his focus would be the consumer rather than his competitors.

Affair With Basketmouth And Governor Led To End Of Kate Henshaw Marriage

Its no longer news that one of the longest celebrity marriages in Nigeria has came to an end, proving skeptics right that marriages of celebrities always collapse.

Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw Nuttal’s marriage with her British hubby, Roderick James Nuttal, who is the Managing Director of Ledrop Nigeria Ltd, an agency  for Jack Daniels and Piper Hiedsieck Champagne, broke down due to what we learnt to be ‘irreconcilable differences.’

Investigations by Naijapals sources revealed that the estranged lovers had been living in different apartments in Lekki, Lagos for the past few weeks before the news of the marriage collapse became public knowledge.

Reliable sources revealed that their separation was due to different cases of infidelity leveled against Kate by her husband, Rod.

We learnt from different sources that Kate who has a daughter, Ella for the Britton had been accused by the hubby of enjoying hot romance with some big names in the political and entertainment scenes for some years now.

Kate & Roderick Nuttal

Some of the men that have been fingered in the relationship with the actress include the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke and renowned popular comedian, Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth amongst others.

Our sources disclosed that the sultry actress had been romantically linked to these notable individuals but she always defended herself that her relationship with them was purely official.

According to the source, Rod reportedly overlooked his estranged wife’s affair with the governors, hoping that she was only using her star status to get multi million naira contracts.

Popular comedian, Basket-mouth was also alleged to have dated Kate. We gathered that the two entertainers usually meet at some undisclosed areas all around Nigeria, enjoying each other’s company.

“ Her involvement with Basketmouth started during one of the shows they anchored together outside Lagos. One thing led to another and they eventually became very close and started to enjoy each other’s company,” a source stated.

Ayo Sonaiya, Chief Executive Officer of R70 Media in the United States, who runs a record label and artistes’ promotions outfit, was also alleged to have dated the popular actress. Our source maintained that Ayo and Kate had good times in choice hotels around the country and abroad.

Our source said Kate allegedly complained regularly to her husband’s friend, Mr Keith Richards that her husband didn’t have enough time for her, that he traveled a lot.

Sources close to the duo revealed that both Kate and Rod are already talking to their lawyers to finalize the divorce papers and put an end their 12 years marriage.

We also scooped that Ella, the only product of the union, is still in Kate’s custody as at today until the court rules otherwise.

Kate Henshaw-Nuttal’s Marriage Crashes......

Kate Henshaw-Nuttal, one of Nollywood’s biggest actress, has left her husband of 12 years, Roderick James Nuttal. The couple say their separation is mutual as they are hardly around to spend quality time with each other.
The actress who recently celebrated her fortieth birthday has to travel constantly due to the nature of her job and the same seems to apply to her hubby. They have an 11 year old daughter Ella from their 12 year marriage.
Efforts to get a word from the actress have proved abortive as she only says; ‘whatever has a beginning must have an end‘. The news of their separation is a shock to everyone as they seemed to have everything under check and they looked quite good together. It makes you wonder if we are gradually picking the marriage separation from our Hollywood counterparts.

Nollywood's Clarion Chukwura Turns Deaconess

Clarion Chukwura has not been as active as she used to be on television. The reason is not far-fetched.

The screen diva delved into fashion, following the launch of her clothing line, Clarion Chukwura Clothing (C3).

Now, it seems Chukwura might be more religious than she makes out. Believe it or not, she is about to be ordained as a deaconess at the Jesus Dominion Assembly, Omole Phase I, Lagos State.

Chukwura told us in a telephone interview that she was very happy about the ordination.

“I’m very excited about my ordination. Contrary to what people think, I’m a very spiritual person. I don’t joke with my spirituality,” she says.

TELECOMS SECTOR REVENUE CONTRIBUTION EXCEEDS BANKING, SOLID MINERALS, SAYS COMMUNICATION MINISTER

TLEECOMS SECTOR REVENUE CONTRIBUTION EXCEEDS BANKING, SOLID MINERALS, SAYS COMMUNICATION MINISTER
Nigeria’s Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson, has said the sectoral contribution of the telecoms sector to the nation’s gross domestic product has overtaken that of the banking and solid mineral put together.
The minister who spoke in Lagos at the telecoms award presentation said, “The telecommunications sector has grown in leaps and bounds since inception. It started slowly in 1980 but today, Nigeria boasts of a 90-million subscriber base, and revenue received from this sector far exceeds banking and solid minerals put together.”
“Nigeria’s migration from voice base to data base is an improvement in the way communication is explored and this further buttresses the fact that the country is ready for another 10 years of growth and hopefully it will impact the way Nigerian’s work and live,” she added.
At the event, Etisalat’s position as the most innovative telecommunications company was reinforced with its emergence as the best Telecom Innovation Company of the year. Its Chief Executive Officer, Steven Evans, was also presented with CEO of the Year Award at the 7th Annual Nigerian Telecom Awards held at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, to celebrate 10 Years of Telecommunications Revolution in Nigeria and also reward excellence.
The prestigious Nigerian Telecoms Award is Nigeria’s foremost awards in the telecoms sector and has been in existence since 2004. In attendance at the event were dignitaries including  former Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia and Founder African Refugee Foundation, Segun Olusola; former Minister for Information, Alex Akinyele, and the chief executive officers of various blue chip companies.
In her welcome address while declaring the event open, Mrs. Johnson said:  The minister congratulated the winners of the various categories and implored them to continue and improve on their performances.
Receiving the award for innovation, Director Commercial Planning of Etisalat, Bisi Idowu expressed Etisalat’s gratitude for the award. “We are highly elated by this recognition as the Telecom Innovation Company for 2011. DEL YORK ENDS TRAINING

The second Del York/New York Film Academy training programme for aspiring filmmakers closed with a colourful gala night on Saturday, September 10 at MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.
250 students participated in the one-month intensive programme on filmmaking and media production which started on August 15. Facilitators from the New York Film Academy with which Del York has a five- year relationship, took various courses during the hands-on training.
Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole; former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odein Ajumogobia; former chair, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chibuzo Ugwoha; member, Federal House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele and United States Senator Kent Williams from South Carolina were among the guests at the ceremony. Actresses Stephanie Okereke, Genevieve Nnaji, Monalisa Chinda and movie producer Emem Isong also attended the event anchored by Eku Edewor of M-Net Africa and Sulaiman Aledeh of Channels Television.
Formidable ambassadors
One of the three co-chairs of the night, Ajumogobia, kick-started proceedings after the opening formalities had been observed. He commended the 26 trainers from the New York Film Academy in New York and Los Angeles, calling them "formidable ambassadors." According to him, "Your being here is a huge statement that Nigeria is a place to do business."
The lawyer also touched on Nollywood, noting that, "We have a remarkable industry that is growing. Our films are watched all over the world but we can do much more in terms of the quality. The entire world is out there waiting for films from Nigeria that will break records across the world."
Co-chair Tonye Prince will said the initiative was akin to killing two birds with one stone as it encourages youth interested in the creative industry and addresses the issue of unemployment in the country. The chief executive officer of Riverdrill Group also disclosed why he supports the training. "For me, it is a passion. I sponsored a couple of students but I am worried about what happens to them afterwards. I am keen to see that beyond training, they can actually get engaged in meaningful endeavours."
The highpoint of the event was the screening of the top-ten films made by the students. Among the films were commercials commissioned by Arik Air, Ibis and Pepsi.
Spending too much on consultancy
Oshiomhole, who spoke after the screening, disclosed his initial reservation when the Edo State Government was requested to sponsor some students. "In this country we spend so much money on consultancy, all kinds of training programmes. Everybody is a trainer and I have seen people with bad voice like me training musicians," he said to laughter from the audience.

"So my first reaction," he continued, "was that I wasn't sure this was something we could use our tax payers money to support." However, having seen the student's work, he was convinced that any investment his government had made in the training programme was "well considered". Oshiomhole also commended Linus Idahosa, founder of Del York, adding that he "doesn't need to spend much on phone cards" to get his government to invest in future training programmes.
Ten students were later presented with awards. Tonye Faloughi was recognised for filmmaking; Success Ojo for screenwriting; Toyin Fajusigbe for broadcast journalism and Rone Oristejolomi for producing. Nnadi Martin got a prize for editing, Yugbovwre Eguvwe for 3D animation while Tamara Eteimo emerged best student in acting. Tonye Faloughi was honoured for coming up with the best final project; Yomi Otaigbe got the Prince Tonye Princewill Award for Future Voice of Nigeria while the CEO Award for Commitment went to Flora Bassey.
Tributes to veteran actor Sam Loco Efe, who died in August, were also taken during the ceremony. Candles were lit in his honour as some of his colleagues from Nollywood came on stage to relive shared times with the fallen star. A video montage created by the students based on clips from some of the late actor's movies was also shown.
Creative and passionate
Amaka Okpechukwu, who trained in acting, disclosed what she benefitted from the programme after the ceremony. "I learnt that as part of acting, you have to train your voice. I now know what to do when a scene calls for tears. But the most wonderful experience I had is how to get auditions, prepare for them and what to do before you go on one." She also praised her teachers on the way they encouraged the students and provided constructive criticism.
Derek Griesbach, a teaching assistant in editing, also expressed admiration for the students. "I had never met students who are more creative, passionate or driven," he said. "It was unbelievable to see the speed at which they work and it is clear that when given the opportunity, Nigerian students dedicate themselves a hundred percent."
Director of media and communications at Del York, Chinaka Iwunze, spoke about the cost of tuition and boarding. She disclosed that each student paid $5000, which is approximately N780,000. "It is one of the least expensive around the world compared to other places where the New York Film School hold one month programmes," Iwunze said. "We understand that many Nigerians cannot afford the cost and that is why we brought in sponsors to provide scholarships for the students. 98 percent of our students were sponsored by organisations like the Edo State Government, the NDDC, NAFDAC, Riverdrill Group and even well-meaning individuals. The students just needed to register, pay N3,000 application fees and then apply for scholarship."
Iwunze however disclosed that there were certain criteria for receiving the scholarships. "For the NDDC scholarship, you had to be from the Niger Delta. That is why we want to encourage more organisations and government bodies to sponsor these programmes so that people from the North can come in knowing that scholarships are available for them."
